Dictate prompts and tag files automatically
Stop typing reproductions and start vibing code. Wispr Flow captures your spoken debugging flow and turns it into structured bug reports, acceptance tests, and PR descriptions. Say a file name or variable out loud and Flow preserves it exactly, tags the correct file, and keeps inline code readable. Use voice to create Cursor and Warp prompts, call out a variable like user_id, and get copy you can paste straight into an issue or PR. The result is faster triage and fewer context gaps between engineers and QA. Learn how developers use voice-first workflows in our Vibe Coding article at wisprflow.ai. Try Wispr Flow for engineers.

๐ช The $750 Million Shave: The MACH3 Legend
In 1993, Gillette decided that two blades were a civilizational oversight. They spent the next seven years and a staggering $750 million on R&D to prove that three blades were the magic number for facial smoothness.
Launched in June 1998, the MACH3 wasn't just a razor; it was a titanium-coated fortress of intellectual property. With a spring-loaded pivot and precisely staggered blades, it was protected by over 35 patents.
This "IP moat" was so wide that competitors couldn't even look at a cartridge without a lawyer getting a stress headache.

Gillette then spent another $300 million on marketing to ensure every man on Earth knew their current razor was essentially a sharpened rock.
The strategy worked brilliantly. For nearly two decades, the patent wall kept generic competitors at bay, allowing Gillette to command premium prices for "DLC" (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated steel. It wasn't until 2016 that the core patents finally expired, inviting a flood of cheaper alternatives to the party.
The MACH3 remains the gold standard in using engineering to create a market monopoly. Yet, despite a billion-dollar pedigree, it still proves that even 35 patents can't stop a Monday morning chin-nick.
But in terms of sheer patent intensity on a single SKU, the Gillette MACH3 remains a legend. It's a razor blade, with the paperwork of a space shuttle.
