Patent 12267880 – Allocation of resources for preamble and payload of messages in a 2-step random access (RA) procedure in new radio (NR) systems.

A user device may receive configuration info from a base station for a 2-step random access procedure in unlicensed spectrum. This includes an uplink message with a preamble and payload, and a downlink response.

Patent 12267225 – Enhanced service function chaining in next generation cellular networks.

A communication system may include functions to select, establish, and expose service chaining: a control function for selecting service functions, an orchestration function to set up the chain, and an exposure function to interface with applications.

Ashwin Sampath
Computer Vision Engineering at Blue River Technology. Ashwin holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.

Patent 12267198 – Sample-level error-correcting code.

A wireless communication device encodes real data samples by adding time-domain complex samples, where the sum of exponentials of the complex samples is a known value. It then transmits the encoded data to another device.

Mark S Zeiner

Designer at Kaleidoscope Innovation.

25 years in progressive positions in FDA-regulated field of General, Bariatric and Orthopedic Surgery medical product design and development, dedicated to developing new innovations that will help drive the future of Ethicon Endo Surgery.

Patent 12262889 – Sliding compression retainers for staple cartridges with implantable adjuncts.

Retainers and systems for staple cartridges with implantable adjuncts are disclosed, designed to apply compressive force to secure the adjuncts during surgical stapling procedures.

Michael F Starsinic

Director at InterDigital Communications.

Michael F Starsinic has established himself as a trailblazer in the field of innovations and patents. With a remarkable portfolio of 201 patents, his dynamic policy control and end-to-end M2M service layer sessions patents stand out as testament to his forward-thinking mindset. His collaborations with esteemed professionals and his career highlights at esteemed companies reflect his constant pursuit of excellence.

Patent 12267738 – Handover in integrated small cell and WiFi networks via an extended X2 interface.

Systems and methods support inter-system mobility between LTE and trusted WLAN access networks using an X2′ interface for control and user plane communication. This interface enables seamless handover of a UE’s connection between a WLAN and an (H)eNB in both directions.

Patent 12267774 – Methods, architectures, apparatuses and systems for supporting network slicing serving area.

Methods and systems are disclosed for a wireless device (WTRU) to determine network slice availability across tracking areas (TAs) within a registration area (RA). The WTRU detects changes in slice access as it moves between TAs and may re-register in a new TA to access a previously unavailable slice.

Adarsh Krishnan Ramasubramonian

Sr. Staff Engineer at Qualcomm.

Adarsh Krishnan Ramasubramonian received the B.Tech. degree from IIT Madras, Chennai, India, in 2006, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA, in 2008 and 2011, respectively, all in electrical engineering.

Patent 12267527 – Occupancy coding using inter prediction in geometry point cloud compression.

An example device for coding point cloud data includes a memory and processors that handle octree-based data. For a current node, if inter prediction or planar mask data is coded, the device skips coding a single occupancy value. It also uses planar mask data from a reference frame to determine context for entropy coding when applicable.

Madhukar Budagavi

Dr. Madhukar Budagavi is a Senior Director R&D and the manager of the Multimedia Standards and Technology Group in the Standards and Mobility Innovation Lab at Samsung Research America.

He is a co-editor of the Springer book on “High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC): Algorithms and Architectures” published in 2014.

He was an active participant in the JCT- VC committee of ITU-T and ISO/IEC standards body during the development of HEVC, which received a Primetime Emmy Engineering Award. Dr. Budagavi received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Patent 12267524 – Intra block copy (IntraBC) cost estimation.

A video encoding method determines if a parent unit used IntraBC mode. If not, it computes the current unit’s activity. A 2D search is used for IntraBC cost if activity is high; otherwise, a 1D search is used. The IntraBC cost helps select an optimal encoding mode for encoding the unit.

Dan Wittenberger

CTO & Co-founder of MeeraMed.

Over 30 years experience in medical devices, mainly in Advanced Development and Research. Extensive experience working with KOLs in EP labs and ORs. Formerly Senior Principal Engineer at Medtronic, recipient two highest recognitions: Technical Fellow and Bakken Fellow. Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec. Area of knowledge focused on conception and development of novel, minimally invasive medical devices

A method for bronchial denervation uses an electromyography system with a cryoablation device and two recording electrodes. The system calculates the difference between signals from the electrodes to generate a recorded electromyogram, which is then compared to a reference signal.

Patent 12262933 – Apparatus and method for targeted bronchial denervation by cryo-ablation.

Christian Scott Eversull

Chris is the co-founder and principal at AuST, with over 15 years of experience developing medical devices across roles in engineering and executive leadership. He is also a licensed physician trained in internal medicine, with a research focus on cardiovascular electrophysiology.
